Small earthquake recorded in Isparta, with early reports differing on magnitude

A small earthquake struck Isparta in western Turkey on October 16, 2026, at about 6:15 p.m.

One official-data report gave its magnitude as 2.4, while two other reports put it at 2.7.

The accounts also differ on the epicentre: one says Isparta city centre, while the others say Deregümü, a nearby area.

They place the quake around 7 to 7.8 kilometres underground, and some residents reportedly felt it.

No damage or other problems were reported in the available accounts.

Isparta lies in a region affected by active fault systems, where small and moderate earthquakes occur.

Residents in earthquake-risk areas are advised to check building safety and prepare emergency supplies.

Further official information may be issued, and residents can check updates from AFAD and Kandilli Observatory.
