PSSI chief says there is no update on Demiane Agustien naturalisation

Reports say PSSI is handling naturalisation paperwork for Demiane Agustien, a 19-year-old attacking midfielder with Indonesian ancestry.

PSSI chief Erick Thohir said there was no further update when asked about the reports in Jakarta on Thursday.

A staff member at Indonesia’s Justice Ministry said PSSI’s legal team was working on the process, but that claim has not been confirmed by Thohir.

Agustien plays for Arsenal Under-21 and was born in Oss, the Netherlands.

Naturalisation could make him eligible to represent Indonesia, where coach John Herdman is looking at options in midfield.

There is no confirmed decision or timeline, though one account said the process could still be completed before the 2027 Asian Cup.
