Two questioned over stone attack on Srinagar-bound bus in Haryana

A Delhi-to-Srinagar bus was attacked in Haryana late Saturday while stopped at a dhaba in Karnal district.

Police said two men in a car hit the bus while manoeuvring, and an argument escalated into a fight involving passengers and dhaba employees.

The men allegedly threw stones, injuring a passenger and a dhaba employee and damaging the bus.

Police said the incident began as a parking dispute, not a hate crime, while some Kashmir leaders condemned the attack and raised concerns about travellers’ safety.

Two Karnal residents were taken for questioning, and police registered a case after the dhaba manager complained.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said his office had contacted Haryana’s government, which assured prompt legal action; the police investigation is continuing.

Such incidents are not acceptable in Modi’s India. Kashmiris deserve the same dignity, respect and hospitality in every part of the country as any other citizen. No one should be harassed, assaulted or humiliated because they come from Kashmir,
