Clarkson says he wanted to return to Knicks despite reduced role

Clarkson played fewer minutes for the Knicks last season than at any other point in his career.

He said he wanted to stay and did not listen to offers from other teams.

He is back on a minimum-salary deal and expects to have a smaller role.

His return gives the Knicks a veteran who says he is happy to support the team in that role.
