Sturm Graz goalkeeper Daniil Khudyakov suffers serious leg fracture

Sturm Graz goalkeeper Daniil Khudyakov suffered a serious leg injury in the derby against city rival Grazer AK in Graz, Austria.

Around the 20th minute, GAK forward Jacobo Italiano challenged as Khudyakov tried to kick the ball away, and the two collided.

Players from both teams shielded the injured goalkeeper while medical staff treated him, then he was taken off the field and operated on.

Coach Fabio Ingolitsch said Khudyakov had a lower-leg fracture and staff had tried to protect blood vessels at the scene.

He is expected to miss at least until March 2027, and his season could be over.

Sturm recovered from a 1-0 deficit to win 6-1, with Ingolitsch dedicating the victory to Khudyakov.

He is being operated on right now. It was a clean break of the lower leg. They did everything on the field to make sure at least the blood vessels did not die, because it is a very, very serious injury.
