Valve ends production of the Valve Index VR headset

Valve has stopped producing its Index VR headset after more than seven years on the market.

The headset launched in June 2019, and the change follows the launch of Valve’s newer Steam Frame.

The company is shifting its focus to the Steam Frame, but remaining Index headsets, controllers and accessories will still be sold until stock runs out.

The headset is currently listed for $399.20, down 20% from $499, and some replacement parts are also discounted.

Existing owners will continue to receive support through Steam and SteamVR.

Once the remaining stock is gone, new Index units will no longer be available from that stock, while current owners can continue using their headsets with support.
