Nearly 30-year-old Magnum Ego ice cream found in Victorian shop freezer

Shop owner Ash Standbridge found a nearly 30-year-old Magnum Ego while clearing a freezer at his store in Harrow, south-west Victoria.

The ice cream was buried beneath ice with its old wrapper intact, but Standbridge said he was not brave enough to eat it.

Magnum Ego, a vanilla ice cream coated in chocolate and caramel, was introduced in 1998 and discontinued earlier this year.

Standbridge’s social media post went viral, with people sharing memories of the treat and the occasions when they ate it.

The response shows the ice cream still holds strong memories for Australians.

Standbridge contacted Magnum Ice Cream, which said it is looking into the discovery and told people to watch this space.
