Humanities training linked to lower burnout among Italian oncologists
A training course helped oncologists practise communication and manage the emotional strain of caring for people with cancer.
In a pilot study, 40 Italian doctors took part and 39 completed the course.
Afterward, reported burnout symptoms were 41.8% lower and job satisfaction was 51.9% higher.
The results suggest these skills can be taught, though the study was small.
