Cyclist seriously injured after car collision in Melzo

A 56-year-old cyclist was hit by a car near the railway station in Melzo, near Milan, on the morning of 29 October.

The collision happened shortly before 8:30 a.m., and the woman was left in serious condition.

Emergency crews sent an ambulance, a medical car and a helicopter, and she was taken to Niguarda hospital.

A preliminary account says she was crossing a shared pedestrian and cycle crossing when the car struck her while heading towards a nearby underpass.

The driver stopped to help and tested negative for alcohol and drugs.

Melzo local police are investigating the collision, and the exact circumstances have not yet been established.
