Milwaukee Brewers win first World Series title

The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in Game 5 to win the World Series.

The championship is the first in the Brewers’ history, which began in 1969 as the Seattle Pilots before the team moved to Milwaukee.

Milwaukee had the best regular-season record in Major League Baseball, with 103 wins, and went 11-2 in the postseason.

The title comes after the Brewers’ only previous World Series appearance, in 1982, ended in a loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.

In the final game, pitcher Jacob Misiorowski allowed no runs over 5⅔ innings, while rookie Cooper Pratt drove in two runs.

William Contreras was named World Series MVP, and teammate Jackson Chourio set a record with 11 hits in a five-game series.

Brewers captain Christian Yelich said the team looked forward to returning to Milwaukee to celebrate with fans.
