Uttarakhand minister interrupts Daler Mehndi’s performance at Kunjapuri fair

At the Kunjapuri fair in New Tehri, Uttarakhand, Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal interrupted Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi during a performance on Sunday night.

Uniyal questioned whether Mehndi was singing live or using a soundtrack and said the audience expected a proper performance.

The fair is tied to religious faith and cultural traditions, and Uniyal said the event should respect the decorum of Navratri.

He also alleged Mehndi was inebriated, but that claim could not be confirmed.

The confrontation briefly created an awkward moment on stage, and Mehndi asked the minister to leave.

Video of the exchange spread on social media, though one outlet said it could not independently verify the footage.
