One dead and one injured in six-vehicle crash on Tohoku Expressway
A six-vehicle crash happened on the Tohoku Expressway near Morioka, in Japan’s Iwate Prefecture, around 12:30 a.m.
on October 20.
A car hit the point where the expressway’s main lanes split from an exit, and at least five vehicles hit it from behind, including large trucks.
The car caught fire, and its male driver was found dead; a truck driver was taken to hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Fog was believed to have reduced visibility, and a speed limit was in force near the scene.
