Four young people seriously hurt as car rolls over near Lichtenfels

A car carrying four young people rolled over several times on a road near Lichtenfels, in Germany’s Upper Franconia region, during the night of 24–25 October.

The group included two men and two women aged 17 to 19, and the 19-year-old man was driving.

They were travelling from Lahm towards Oberlangheim on the LIF 22 county road when the car left the road in a left-hand bend.

The vehicle rolled over in a field and came to rest on its side; one 17-year-old passenger was thrown from the car, while two others were trapped inside.

All four suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospitals after emergency crews helped free the trapped passengers.

Police are investigating what caused the driver to lose control, and say the exact cause remains unclear.
