Two $100 Million Funds Target Italy’s Film and TV Industry

At the MIA audiovisual market in Rome, two separate $100 million funds were announced for Italy’s screen industry.

Media Capital Technologies unveiled a fund aimed at Italian producers, with financing intended to help cover production costs.

It would provide cash while producers wait for tax credit refunds or other public incentives, complementing bank lending.

Separately, the Italian audiovisual producers’ association APA and Deloitte are promoting a fund expected to start operating by mid-2027.

That fund would invest in companies, with plans for eight to 15 investments of €2 million to €10 million, prioritising independent producers.

The plans address financial weaknesses among smaller Italian companies and aim to help them compete internationally.

The Italian fund is expected to use public and private capital, with management by Fondo Italiano d’Investimento Sgr and a seven-to-ten-year investment horizon.

It is essential that rights remain with producers. Without rights, catalogs die, companies remain undercapitalized and cannot reinvest.
