Most Economists Say Indonesia’s Economy and Job Market Have Worsened
A survey by LPEM FEB UI asked 63 economists about Indonesia’s economy in September and October 2026.
33 economists, or 52%, said the economy had worsened compared with three months earlier, though the change in the average rating was not statistically significant.
49 economists, or 78%, said inflation pressure was high, and the average rating for inflation pressure had risen since the previous survey, but not significantly.
46 economists, or 73%, said job creation was lower than six months earlier.
The average assessment of labor-market conditions fell, and this was the only significant change among the current economic indicators compared in the survey.
Looking ahead, 60% expected inflation pressure to rise over the next month, while 52% expected economic growth to stay at its latest rate over the next three months.
The findings reflect views from economists in academia, research, business and other institutions, rather than a measure of economic performance itself.
