SUSE plans to cut about 10% of its global workforce, citing AI

SUSE plans to cut about 10% of its global workforce, citing changes driven by automation and artificial intelligence.

The open-source software company employs about 1,900 people, and CEO Dirk-Peter van Leeuwen announced the cuts in an internal email.

SUSE sells software for business customers and is known for its Linux products.

Van Leeuwen said some current roles are less needed as new tools let teams work with less operational effort.

The company has not said which jobs will be affected, but it said it reviewed whether employees could move into changing roles.

Staff who are affected are due to be told by November 4, with individual meetings starting early the following week.

The remaining employees will hear about SUSE’s 2027 strategy on November 16.
