Glucksmann gains ground in polls ahead of France’s 2027 presidential election

Raphaël Glucksmann won the social-democratic primary on 11 October, taking 66.17% of the vote.

Several polls taken after his win put him close to Édouard Philippe and Jean-Luc Mélenchon in the race for second place in France’s 2027 presidential election.

The three candidates’ support is close, but estimates vary between polls and candidate scenarios.

Marine Le Pen remains far ahead in the first-round polling, with results ranging from 31% to at least 35%.

Glucksmann’s numbers are higher in scenarios where Gabriel Attal, rather than Philippe, is the centrist candidate.

The polls are snapshots, not predictions; one survey found that 46% of respondents who named a candidate might change their minds before the election.
