Names released for gunman and six victims of Erie home shooting

A shooting at a home in Erie, Pennsylvania, on Friday killed eight people, including seven of the gunman’s relatives.

Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook identified the gunman as Matthew Stone Sr., 45, and released the names of six adult victims.

Two children, a 5-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl, also died, but their names were not released because state law prevents it.

Police said Stone shot two women outside the home after they arrived and began pounding on the door, then went back inside; he later took his own life.

One of the victims, Angelina Stone, was due to give birth on Monday, according to the coroner.

Police have not stated a motive, though the police chief said Stone’s mental health could have been a factor.

Investigators plan to speak with relatives and examine the phones of the two women killed outside the home.
