Lions activate Brian Branch and Cade Mays ahead of Packers game

The Detroit Lions activated safety Brian Branch and center Cade Mays from the lists keeping them off the active roster.

Branch is returning after tearing his Achilles last season, an injury that kept him out for about 11 months.

Mays had been on injured reserve since the regular season began after hurting his wrist in the summer.

Both players have no injury designation and are expected to play the Packers on Sunday; Mays is expected to start at center.

Branch’s return could help a secondary that ranks last in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game.

The 2026 season is the final year of Branch’s rookie contract, and the Lions have sought an extension, but talks or a deal are not confirmed.
