Privacy-focused AI assistant Ollie to shut down on November 6

Ollie will shut down on November 6, according to co-founder and CEO Bill Lennon.

The startup built a subscription-based AI assistant to help families stay connected and organized, with tools for email, calendars, appointments, meal planning and bill payments.

The app connected to users’ email and calendars and was among the first mainstream apps to meet SOC 2, a privacy compliance standard verified by an independent audit.

Lennon said growing competition from other AI assistants made it harder for Ollie to stand out, grow and raise the money it needed.

The company could not keep up with competitors, despite raising a $7.5 million seed round led by Khosla Ventures.

Customers will get data-export and refund instructions in the coming days.
