ECR buys simulator to prepare for IndyCar’s 2028 car
Ed Carpenter Racing has bought an in-house driving simulator from UK-based Dynisma, becoming the first known IndyCar team to make the investment.
The system lets drivers use a virtual car while engineers study how it responds to changes.
The simulator is due at ECR’s Indianapolis facility in early 2027 and will support car development, setup work and driver preparation.
IndyCar limits physical testing, so the simulator can help the team test ideas away from the track.
The timing matters because IndyCar plans to introduce the new Dallara IR-28 in 2028, with a lighter chassis, revised aerodynamics and a next-generation powertrain.
Alexander Rossi has already taken part in early tests of the new car at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Sebring.
ECR expects the simulator to help it learn the IR-28 before it reaches the racetrack.

This is a significant step forward in the technical capabilities of our organization.
At this level of racing, the smallest details make a difference, and the closer you can get the simulator to replicating what you actually experience in the car, the more valuable that tool becomes.
IndyCar is one of the most technically demanding and competitive forms of motorsport in the world, so we are delighted to welcome ECR as Dynisma’s first announced IndyCar team customer.
