Mass Effect fans put Save Mass Effect billboard in Times Square
Mass Effect fans are urging EA to keep the game series alive after its developer, BioWare, was closed last week.
Their Change.org petition has attracted more than 200,000 signatures and asks EA to continue development or let another studio make the games.
A campaign representative paid $250 for a Times Square billboard on October 26 to draw attention to the appeal.
It showed “Keelah Si’yah,” a phrase from the games that means “By the homeworld I hope to find one day.”
The display ran for 15 seconds every hour at a site in Duffy Square, New York City.
The campaign says it may raise funds to extend the billboard or arrange displays elsewhere.
The petition leaves open the future of the series, while fans seek a decision from EA.

HOLD THE LINE!
Alternatively, EA could consider licensing the Mass Effect intellectual property (IP) to another studio that shares the passion and vision to keep it alive and allow it to flourish anew.
The potential cessation of new developments in this universe is a devastating prospect not only for fans but for the diversity of narrative-driven games as a whole.
