Antonio Banderas joins Nicolas Cage in True Detective season five

Antonio Banderas has joined Nicolas Cage in the fifth season of HBO’s crime anthology True Detective.

Cage will play Henry Logan, while Banderas will play Rai Garcia.

The new season is set in Jamaica Bay, New York, after earlier seasons took place in locations including Alaska and Louisiana.

Issa López, who led the fourth season, will write, direct and serve as showrunner.

The series is an anthology, so it will tell a new story with new characters, though López has said there will be important connections to the Alaska season.

Production is set to begin in 2027, and further details about the season have not been announced.
