Spanish court rejects Quiles complaint against Begoña Gómez

A court in Majadahonda rejected Vito Quiles’s complaint accusing Begoña Gómez of making a false report about him.

The dispute followed a restaurant encounter in which Gómez accused Quiles of assault, while he denied it and accused her of making a false complaint.

Spanish law requires a final court decision closing the original case before someone can be prosecuted for making a false report.

The Madrid Provincial Court overturned the earlier dismissal of Gómez’s case and ordered further examination of whether the incident involved coercion.

The appeal court said video did not establish physical assault, but that this did not settle whether Quiles’s conduct could amount to coercion.

If the case brought by Gómez is eventually closed with a final decision, Quiles could then file a valid complaint against her.
