Srikakulam hospital holds glaucoma awareness camp for older people

Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital held a glaucoma awareness programme for older people in Srikakulam on World Sight Day.

Doctor K. Ramchran tested patients and said blurred or reduced vision and persistent headaches can be signs of glaucoma.

He said the condition is common among older people but is also found in middle-aged people and young people, which he linked to lifestyle changes.

The hospital said it had carried out 13,738 outpatient tests and nearly 2,674 surgeries for patients in need.

The foundation also provides free care to people covered by the NTR Vaidya Seva scheme.

It plans more medical camps in Tekkali, Palasa, Sompeta, Ichchapuram and other places over the next two months so poorer patients can get treatment closer to home.
