Ajaraie misses stoppage-time penalty as Odisha and NorthEast United draw

Odisha FC and NorthEast United drew 0-0 in their Indian Super League match at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

NorthEast had the clearer chances, but Odisha goalkeeper Hrithik Tiwary made six saves to keep the match level.

In the fifth minute of stoppage time, Odisha defender Stephen Eze handled the ball in the penalty area and the referee awarded a spot kick.

NorthEast striker Alaaeddine Ajaraie hit the post with the penalty, ending his side’s chance to take all three points.

The draw gave Odisha its first point of the season, while NorthEast’s winning run ended.

NorthEast moved provisionally top with seven points from three matches, while Odisha had two points and sat eighth.

NorthEast next hosts Bengaluru FC on October 30, and Odisha travels to face Mohun Bagan Super Giant on November 5.
