Xiaomi launches Redmi K100 in China with a 10,000mAh battery
Xiaomi has launched the Redmi K100 in China, where its starting price is 3,499 yuan, or about $525.
The phone’s standout feature is a 10,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, a much larger capacity than the roughly 5,000mAh batteries in several Samsung and Google phones cited in the coverage.
Silicon-carbon batteries are helping some Chinese phone makers increase battery capacity, while major brands such as Samsung and Google have so far used smaller batteries in their phones.
The K100 also has a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a 6.83-inch OLED display, and support for 100W wired charging.
The larger battery sets the K100 apart in a market where new phone launches are frequent and battery capacity is becoming a point of competition.
For now, the phone is available only in China; a possible release in other markets under a POCO name has been suggested but is not confirmed.
