Cármen Lúcia to give keynote at women and justice conference in Brasília
Brazilian Supreme Court minister Cármen Lúcia will give the keynote at an international conference on women and justice in Brasília.
The event will run from Wednesday to Friday at the Ulysses Guimarães Convention Center.
The conference will discuss women’s roles in institutions and access to justice, alongside topics including public safety, work, tax justice and technology.
Speakers include activist Maria da Penha and senior legal and government figures such as former prosecutor-general Raquel Dodge and Women’s Minister Márcia Lopes.
An award will recognise projects that prevent violence against women and expand access to justice, including through legal help and protection networks.
Organisers say 22 finalists will share 1.45 million reais in prizes; the conference programme also includes a performance by singer Ana Cañas.
