U.S. Ice Dance Pair Debuts Hamilton Routine at Skate Canada

U.S. ice dancers Caroline Green and Michael Parsons debuted a Hamilton-themed routine at Skate Canada, a figure skating Grand Prix event.

The two-time U.S. medalists performed to three songs written by Lin-Manuel Miranda for the Broadway musical: “Ten Duel Commandments,” “Your Obedient Servant” and “The Room Where It Happens.”

Their rhythm dance scored 74.24 points, and the pair finished third overall.

The routine is designed as a modern take on the musical’s story of the rivalry between Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr.

Green and Parsons had also performed it at two smaller competitions earlier in the season, placing third at the Denis Ten Memorial Challenge and fifth at the CS Nepela Memorial Trophy.

Their Grand Prix debut earned them a third-place overall finish at Skate Canada.

They are set to compete next at Finlandia Trophy in November.

It’s Hamilton versus Burr. It’s taken from the opening, where Burr’s in the red and pretty much the entire cast is in the white and the cream. But it’s sort of like a modern Hamilton meets figure skating, because unfortunately, we can’t wear really long coats and colonial dress.
