Indonesia’s land reform agency seeks closer coordination on poverty data

BRAN chief Dedi Prasetyo met Minister Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar in Jakarta to discuss Indonesia’s agrarian reform.

BRAN says reform should do more than redistribute land or issue certificates.

The agency wants land access to connect with support that helps people grow businesses, raise incomes and strengthen household finances.

It proposed using poverty data to identify priority areas before land is redistributed.

This is intended to make reform better targeted and help address poverty.

Iskandar welcomed BRAN’s approach and stressed that community empowerment should be part of poverty reduction.

The two agencies called for continued communication to align their work.
