Generali wins preliminary approval for Lloyd’s syndicate launching in 2027

Generali plans to enter the Lloyd’s insurance market with a new syndicate called 2031 Red Bridge.

The group has received preliminary approval to begin underwriting in 2027.

Lloyd’s is a global insurance market, and the syndicate will use its licensing network and financial strength.

It will take on a share of Generali’s reinsurance ceded across several business lines.

Reinsurance lets insurers transfer some risks to other parties, and the new syndicate is intended to give Generali more varied sources of risk capital.

Its portfolio is expected to bring Lloyd’s greater exposure to continental European risks, alongside a mix of retail and middle-market business.

Underwriting is expected to start in 2027, subject to the approval process.
