Bahlil targets Rp165 trillion in mining revenue to help fund fuel subsidies
Indonesia’s Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia is targeting Rp165 trillion in mining revenue this year.
The target is above the state budget goal of Rp133.63 trillion, and Bahlil says the extra money could help cover a shortfall in fuel-subsidy funding.
He told President Prabowo Subianto that revenue had reached Rp127.74 trillion by October, close to the budget target.
The figures cover the minerals and coal sector, though one account describes the Rp165 trillion goal as coal revenue.
Coal exports fell to 343 million tonnes in January–September, from 374 million tonnes a year earlier, but their export value rose to US$23.71 billion from US$21 billion.
The increase in revenue despite lower export volumes is why the sector could bring in more than the budgeted amount.
The Rp165 trillion goal is a target, not a final result, and the sources do not say when the final figure will be confirmed.
Bahlil Lahadalia said Indonesia aims to collect Rp165 trillion in non-tax revenue from coal in 2026.
