Sinitsyna wins women’s event at Russian Grand Prix in St Petersburg

Ksenia Sinitsyna won the women’s event at the second Russian Grand Prix stage in St Petersburg on October 25.

She scored 205.34 points, ahead of Veronika Yametova on 199.84 and Dina Khusnutdinova on 197.05.

Sinitsyna led after the short program but fell on a triple flip in the free skate, where she placed second.

Her lead from the first program was enough to secure the overall victory and a season-best total.

The win adds gold in St Petersburg to the bronze she earned at the Kazan stage.

Yametova, competing in the Russian series for the first time, climbed from seventh after the short program to finish second.

Sinitsyna said she is training a quadruple toe loop, but it is not yet consistent; the sources give no details of what comes next.
