First converter transformer reaches Chongqing-Guizhou power link site
The first converter transformer arrived at the Chongqing-Guizhou project site in Qijiang district, Chongqing, on October 30.
The project is a planned link between the power grids of Chongqing and Guizhou.
The 344-tonne transformer travelled nearly 2,193 kilometres from Changzhou, Jiangsu, over 42 days by river, rail and road.
It helps convert electricity between the two grids and supports the flow of power in both directions.
Its arrival means installation of core electrical equipment can begin.
The station will have 13 such transformers, and the last is expected to arrive in January 2027.
Once built, the link is intended to help balance electricity supply between the regions and use more clean energy from southwest China; other major equipment will arrive next, followed by installation and testing.
