Drone attacks leave two injured near Moscow and damage buildings elsewhere

Russian officials said 630 drones headed toward Moscow and its surrounding region from Wednesday evening into Thursday morning.

Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said air defenses destroyed most at a distance and 163 were stopped as they approached the capital.

Two people were injured near Voronovo, in the New Moscow area, and emergency services were working where debris fell.

In the Moscow region, a strike also hit a Defense Ministry plant that produces weapons and ammunition, according to the Telegram channel Astra.

Attacks also damaged homes and a clinic in Lipetsk, where one man was injured and hospitalized; buildings were damaged in Voronezh and the Tula region too.

The attacks affected several Russian regions, while the Moscow airport restrictions mentioned by Vedomosti had been lifted by the time of its report.

The sources give no further details about investigations or what happens next.
