South Korean and Chinese firms list semiconductor ETF in Hong Kong

Korea Investment Management and China Universal Asset Management listed a semiconductor ETF in Hong Kong on October 23.

The fund is their first product under a strategic partnership agreed in November last year.

It tracks an index of 30 global and Chinese technology companies, including Nvidia, TSMC, Samsung Electronics, ASML and Broadcom.

Korea Investment Management developed the product and provides investment advice, while China Universal’s Hong Kong unit manages it locally.

The fund gives investors exposure to semiconductor companies across markets, including Chinese and Hong Kong technology firms.

The companies plan to seek inclusion in ETF Connect, which could allow mainland Chinese investors to trade the Hong Kong-listed fund.

They also plan about $5 million in investment to help build the fund’s initial size and support its launch.
