Lazard Spain chief creates private equity firm with his family

Pedro Pasquín, Lazard’s chief in Spain, has created an investment firm with family members called Bermeo Partners.

The company is registered with Spain’s securities regulator, the CNMV, and has initial capital of €1.21 million.

It plans to invest in unlisted companies and assets, mainly through other venture capital firms, with management assigned to Renta 4.

Spain had 1,501 private equity firms and funds at the end of 2025, twice the number three years earlier.

Wealthy investors are turning to the sector to diversify beyond listed shares and bonds, and some owners may qualify for tax benefits available to family businesses.

Pasquín’s personal wealth is not known.

The next step is for Bermeo Partners to make investments, though no specific deals are described.
