Rai changes commentators for start of men’s volleyball season
Rai has named Edi Dembinski and Matteo Piano as its new volleyball commentary team for the start of Italy’s men’s Superlega season.
They will cover Verona against Civitanova on Saturday at 18:00, with Dembinski calling the match and Piano providing technical analysis.
They take over from Maurizio Colantoni and Andrea Lucchetta, who have commentated on men’s volleyball for Rai.
Their broadcasts drew criticism from some viewers during the recent European Championship, but no link between the criticism and the change has been confirmed.
Lucchetta’s company said the reasons were personal and that the handover had been planned gradually during the season.
Colantoni and Lucchetta remain with RaiSport, and a return to commentary later in the season has not been ruled out.
