Search continues for missing 7-year-old girl near Gingee

Seven-year-old Hemavathi went missing from Alampoondi, a village near Gingee in Tamil Nadu’s Viluppuram district.

She was last seen after celebrating her birthday with her family on the night of October 11, and her disappearance was noticed the next morning.

The search continued for a 14th day, with the case transferred from local police to the state Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department, or CBCID.

Officers have questioned Hemavathi’s parents and relatives, checked her school records, and reviewed CCTV footage and mobile-phone signals.

CBCID also questioned a listed offender who was brought from prison and taken to the school Hemavathi attended.

The investigation has not yet found her, and villagers are urging police to act quickly and share information about her.

The search and investigation are continuing, with officers examining leads around the village and nearby roads.
