Hundreds protest deportations at German airports

Hundreds of people protested against deportations at several German airports on October 25.

They opposed deporting people whose asylum applications had been rejected, as well as holding them in detention before removal.

Protesters also opposed building facilities to prepare people for deportation.

Around 400 people demonstrated in Leipzig, 300 in Frankfurt and 150 at Berlin Brandenburg Airport.

Police said about 50 people protested each at Cologne Bonn and Düsseldorf airports.

In Leipzig, demonstrators also opposed charter flights deporting people to Afghanistan.

The protests focused on Germany's deportation campaign, though the number of foreigners deported in the first half of 2026 was reported to have fallen substantially compared with the same period in 2025; no further developments were given.
