Tesla cancels Cybertruck plans for Australia and New Zealand
Tesla has cancelled plans to sell the Cybertruck in Australia and New Zealand after taking reservations for the pickup for about seven years.
The company is emailing customers to say it cannot fulfil their orders, and says all deposits will be refunded within 30 days.
The Cybertruck was never made in right-hand drive, which is needed for legal road use in both countries.
Tesla also offered reservation holders a free year of supervised driving software if they order a new Model 3 or Model Y. The decision ends years of uncertainty for people who had been waiting for the truck, while giving Tesla a chance to sell them vehicles it already makes.
