Hyrox partners with World Triathlon in bid for Olympic recognition

Hyrox has partnered with World Triathlon to pursue Olympic and Paralympic recognition for hybrid racing.

Hyrox is a fitness race that combines running with exercise stations, while World Triathlon governs the sport of triathlon.

The agreement makes hybrid racing a recognised discipline under World Triathlon, with three formats: ultimate, fast and ultra.

This is a step toward the Games, not a decision to include the sport; the partnership describes a shared pathway to recognition.

The move has drawn criticism from some triathletes, including Olympic champion Alex Yee, who shared a poll opposing the partnership, and British triathlete Max Stapley.

The Olympic bid depends on further recognition, and the organisations have not announced a decision on inclusion in future Games.
