Police reschedule questioning of documentary director Dandhy Laksono

Jakarta police have rescheduled a request to question documentary director Dandhy Laksono for 27 October over a complaint linked to his film Pesta Babi.

The complaint was filed by Yasinta Moiwend, known as Mama Sinta, who appeared in the film.

Police say the case is still at the preliminary investigation stage, and the request is for clarification.

They may advance it to a formal investigation if they find sufficient evidence, or end the inquiry if they do not.

Dandhy's lawyers say he has not attended because the request has no clear legal basis, arguing that he has no defined status in the case and that this type of request is not set out in relevant criminal procedure rules.

Police also plan to seek clarification from a Papua Merauke Legal Aid Institute official identified by the initials JTW.

The next step is the scheduled clarification, after which police will decide whether the case has enough evidence to proceed.
