Cédric Mestron takes over Duralex, with 155 jobs to be retained

Cédric Mestron became Duralex’s new owner on Friday, 16 October, after a court in Orléans approved his takeover of the French glassmaker.

The plan keeps 155 of Duralex’s 220 jobs, while workers face uncertainty over who will lose their positions.

Duralex is a well-known glassware maker, and the takeover comes after years of difficulty and several previous changes of ownership.

Mestron, a 32-year-old former engineer, has experience restructuring struggling businesses and also took over Tupperware France in 2025.

He says his priority is to get Duralex back on track, with a team covering areas such as finance and legal advice.

His first major project is to replace the gas furnace with an electric one by 2029.

The sources do not say what further steps will be taken to decide which jobs will be cut.

S'il n'y avait pas eu de repreneurs, il y aurait 200 personnes au chômage, donc on ne va pas en vouloir complètement.
