Anduril and Qualcomm plan US-made BlueChip laptops for 2027

Anduril and Qualcomm are developing BlueChip laptops to be made in the United States.

The first model is a rugged computer for government, military and emergency users, designed to withstand harsh conditions.

It will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Series processor, and Anduril says about 90% of its components will come from the US or allied countries.

The company’s longer-term goal is a fully US-based supply chain, including components that are currently made only in China.

The plan responds to government rules requiring agencies to buy US-made computers and gives customers a supply chain they can track and audit.

Anduril says the laptop may cost about 20% more than typical high-end PCs, and its weight and battery life may make it less suitable for everyday consumers.

Preorders are expected to begin in 2027, though pricing has not been announced.

As of right now, the laptop’s bill of materials is about 90% U.S. and allied [ally countries], and we have a technical roadmap to get to 100% domestic over time.

The intent in the long run is to have an option that is made entirely in the United States, 100% domestic. And I mean everything. I mean the displays. I mean the metallics. I mean the the magnetics. All of it.

These computers are the anti-surveillance computer. You fully control it.

As much as I love BlueChip, if I was just a normal consumer making a rational decision without a kind of patriotic basis, I’d be better off buying a Dell laptop than an Anduril laptop because it’s going to be cheaper.
