Debris damages Aramco tower in Riyadh after Houthi missile attacks

Falling debris damaged a Saudi Aramco building in Riyadh on Sunday, breaking windows across several floors of its tower.

Saudi Arabia’s Energy Ministry said the building sustained limited damage and no injuries or deaths were reported.

The Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted missiles launched towards Riyadh and other parts of the kingdom; its statements cited both ballistic and cruise missiles.

The attacks come as fighting between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis has escalated after a 2022 truce collapsed and hostilities resumed.

The Houthis have controlled Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, since 2014, while Saudi Arabia has led a coalition backing Yemen’s internationally recognised government.

The strike’s impact on Riyadh’s financial district, which includes homes and a busy metro station, raises concern about attacks reaching civilian areas.

Saudi authorities said they responded to the incident, and an earlier warning that the danger had passed was later lifted.
