Rusedski urges Alex Eala to rest and work on her serve after a difficult run

Filipina tennis player Alex Eala has struggled since the US Open, winning two of five singles matches at tournaments in Singapore, Japan and China.

The poor run includes losses to players ranked No.

180 and No.

217 at the time.

Eala had a breakthrough 2026 season, winning her first WTA title in Washington, reaching the fourth round at Wimbledon and entering the top 20.

Former US Open finalist Greg Rusedski says he is not worried about her dip in form, which he links partly to the demands on her after her rise in profile.

He advises Eala to take a break after the season and work on improving her serve during the off-season.

Rusedski expects her to be seeded at the Australian Open and believes she can do well in 2027.

Eala is entered in tournaments in Ningbo, Tokyo and Hong Kong, giving her a chance to end 2026 on a stronger note.

So this isn’t abnormal to have a little bit of a dip, and I’m not worried about it, I know she’s going to bounce back, it’s just a question of whether she’s going to do it at the end of this year or at the beginning of 2027.
