Rukmini Maitra joins Akshay Kumar in sci-fi thriller Samuk

Rukmini Maitra will star opposite Akshay Kumar in the Hindi film Samuk.

The sci-fi action thriller is being made under Sunshine Pictures and directed by Kanishk Varma.

Maitra has worked in Bollywood before, including with Vidyut Jammwal in Sanak.

Samuk is her next Bollywood film, and the production company said she joined after the team’s experience working with her on Sanak.

The filmmakers said her screen presence helped make her the choice for an important role.

Filming is under way, with scenes shot in the UK and at other locations.

The film is expected to reach cinemas in 2027, though no exact release date is stated.
