Total solar eclipse in 2027 will be partly visible in Germany
On 2 August 2027, the Moon will pass between Earth and the Sun, creating a solar eclipse.
The path where the Sun is fully covered will cross parts of Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, including southern Spain and Egypt.
The total eclipse may last up to six minutes and 23 seconds at the point of its longest duration, making it one of the century’s longest.
In Egypt’s Luxor region, totality will last more than six minutes.
Germany, including Franconia and the Nuremberg area, lies outside the path of totality, so the Sun will be only partly covered there.
Anyone who wants to see the full eclipse will need to travel into the path of the Moon’s shadow.
Safe viewing requires special eclipse glasses; ordinary sunglasses do not provide enough protection.
