Moeve develops lower-carbon chemicals for everyday products
Chemicals are used in products ranging from medicines and phones to clothing and household cleaners.
Moeve Chemicals is developing versions of some chemicals that use renewable or recycled raw materials instead of fossil-based ones.
The company says the new materials are designed to match conventional chemicals in quality and performance while reducing emissions.
One example is a detergent ingredient, whose sustainable derivative the company says has been used in detergents for more than 5 billion washes so far in 2026.
Moeve is also developing lower-carbon alternatives to phenol, which is used in electronics, cars, textiles and medicines.
This matters because reducing industrial emissions involves changing the materials used to make products, not only switching to renewable electricity or electric transport.
Moeve says Spain’s first isopropyl alcohol plant, designed to use renewable energy and raw materials, will start operating this year and help reduce reliance on supplies from abroad.
Moeve Chemicals is developing lower-carbon chemicals made with renewable and circular raw materials.
The company says the new molecules can match conventional chemicals in quality, safety and performance while reducing environmental impact.
Its lower-carbon linear alkylbenzene solutions are used to make a detergent ingredient, and the company estimates sustainable detergent derived from them has been used in more than 5 billion washes so far in 2026.
Moeve plans to start up Spain’s first isopropyl alcohol plant this year, designed to use renewable energy and raw materials.
